You can add individual jobs to the events which will give students more of an idea of what they will be doing. To do this expand the jobs section once you’ve created an event and select Add Job.

Creating a Job

Job Details

The first stage is entering key details about the role. Give each role in an event a meaningful name which will appeal to student workers and clearly summarises what they might be expected to do. For example, “Lanyard Stuffing” is much clearer than “Admin”. Enter the start time and approximate end time of the event, as well as a job description. Also enter the type and category of work which best fits the role. You can also select a pay-rate for this job, which should match the event pay rate. Please also define a meeting point, job location and list how many posts you need filled. Once all this is completed please press next to move to advertising the role.

About Dates and Times

This feature relies on HTML5s datetime-local input element. As such, in browsers such as MacOS Safari this is not supported (however it is on iOS Safari, of course!). If you are on a device which does not support this element, a placeholder with the correct format (yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm - i.e. 2019-10-03T12:01) will appear and please complete the date in that format.

Job Descriptions

The job description is where you should provide an overview of the work, as well as any key information such as if lunch is provided or they need to bring their own. This is also the place to sell your job to them and make them excited about what you are doing! If there is any information that they must have, such as there will be manual handling, please also specify this here.

Advertising the role

Now select which workers you would like to advertise the role to. Selecting which scheme(s) and whether there are any particular schools or groups you’d like to select, e.g. Humanities students who have done a year abroad. This is also where you define if you need a driver or DBS checked worker by adding the requisite groups.

Image of Students to advertise to You can also select the date you would like the advertise the event and when you would like to allocate roles. You can choose whether you’d like to allocate the roles to workers yourself or automatically. (Automatic allocations are currently disabled.) It is important to note that students can only see the job for the period between the advertising date/time and closing date time, and you can then allocate once this time has passed. The allocation date is visible to workers, so all allocations should be completed by this time.

Role Briefing

For each job advertised, you also must complete the Briefing screen. Please enter the date, time and location of this, along with any notes you would like to be sent to the worker when they are allocated.
